Surprise...surprise

Today is such a rare day i felt it deserved it's own post...after all February 29th only happens once every 4 years!
And i received a very big surprise from my angel fish, a pair of them decided to spawn and lay some eggs. It is too soon to tell whether the eggs are even fertilized (i didn't actually see it happen, they just magically appeared on a leaf) but hopefully they are.  Apparently there is a ton of steps that I have to take now like separate the parents and other fish or they will eat the eggs (yikes...its kind of like cannibalism), get another tank to grow out the fry if they do hatch and food, heaters, etc.. ah it's overwhelming.  It takes 3 days for the eggs to hatch since they have been laid...and i'm impatiently waiting....tick tock

If the eggs hatch i will follow up for sure!

Babyccinos: Myth or Fact?

WTF, you say, is a babyccino? it is in fact a real drink made up mostly of frothy cups of steamed milk and foam, however some super cool parents (in Brooklyn) are adding a shot of decaf espresso to their kids' drinks. Yikes! Kids and caffeine is a terrible idea. Oh and it goes for $2 bucks a cup.

Coffee addicts in training?? According to The Brooklyn Paper this concept is not new, but it's picking up steam (I'm so sorry for the corniness) and popularity among younger parents.

Fat Tuesday giggles...

A while back, I made a traffic stop on an elderly woman.  As she looked for her driver's license, I noticed her conceal-carry permit.
"Do you have a weapon in your possession at this time?" i asked
"Yes, a .45 automatic in the glove box" she shaid.
"Do you have any other firearms?"
"A 9mm Glock in the center console."
"Is that all?"
"And a .38 Special in my purse," she admitted
I smiled. "What are you so afraid of?"
Looking me right in the eye, she said, "Not a damn thing."

Celebrity Doppelgangers

How cool would it be to have a twin sister??  The biggest perk of all would be doubling your wardrobe. Do you think these famous ladies swap dresses? Not likely, but they do share very similar faces.

Kate Middleton / Lauren Conrad

Katy Perry / Zooey Deschanel

Nene Leaks / Mary J Blige

Minka Kelly / Leighton Meester
So I got to thinking, is there a celebrity that looks like me?  No obvious choices jumped out but I was able to find this clever website that does the matching for you!! Simply upload a photo from your computer and  the site will find a celebrity that best resembles your picture.

Here are my matches:

What Are You Reading?

So according to my coworkers i have been living under a rock because i have not heard of or read the Freakonomics book written by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner.  One of them is a writer and the other guy is an economist.  Apparently this is the "bible" of how the world works explained in terms we can all understand.

So now I'm heading to the library to see what all this hoopla is about!  I hope this book is worthy.

100 Years of Our History

My dad is catching up to the technical age and he sends me tons of emails about everything.  It took me a long time to get him to stop spamming me at work since that's frowned upon by the guys in compliance.  However my personal email is not off limits.  Although 95% of things he emails me are junk, i was really moved by this video.  It summarizes 100 years of world history in 10 minutes or so.  An interesting video so take a look! (Warning: some images are pretty graphic)

Celebrity Inspiration: Kristin Cavallari

Ok i will admit it, i used to be a closet "The Hills" fan.  Aside from the mega mansions and the TV cameras it sounded a lot like my high school and the drama was well similar.  Kristin has grown up a lot since those days but i still find it hard to be intrigued by her wardrobe.  Sometimes she dresses her age and sometimes she looks like a cougar.  Case in point, i love the jumpsuit, but the color is so vanilla, and accessories are too matchy matchy.  I think the red brings a lovely pop of color and the bangles add a soft touch of youth.

Furry Obsessions: Alpacas

I am completely in love with anything that is small and furry.  Puppies are an obvious choice, but this applies to other animals that are too cute for words. Baby alpacas are insanely fuzzy and so soft.  They are native to Peru and other South American countries and come in a variety of colors.  I also love that they can shave the animal and use the fibers to make chic scarves, hats, sweaters, gloves, and etc. and no alpaca is harmed since the wool just grows back.
