Watch Out

What time is it??? It's "oh-my-god-that's-a-fabulous-watch-time"!

I'm not a fan of whimsical watches.  I don't need it to have swirls, polka dots, kitty ears, a calculator to do math...i just need it to show time.  I tend to stick to the classic shapes as well, mostly round and sometimes a square.  However I am craving an all black watch.  That's right the numbers, the dials, the band, the face...all black.  Aside from this odd craving I think most of us can do silver or gold for everyday and a nice white for the summer.

Celebrity Inspiration: Olivia Munn

I love when a celebrity mixes high and low pieces to achieve that effortless look.  We get that you can afford a $3,000 dress if you wanted to buy it, we also get that it's probably on loan from the designer and you never have to pay for it but for the rest of us that price tag is out of this world. Bravo Olivia Munn for wearing an ASOS dress which cost only $29 to the Hot Hollywood bash in LA!!!! I wish more celebrities dressed like you.

Gardening Do's and Don'ts

Spring is here and that means flowers flowers flowers...oh and allergies (hang in there guys).  Before you start the mulching and weeding read on for some helpful tips that your landscaper won't tell you.  Revised by me as originally read in the Reader's Digest.

1. Axe the mower bag - the grass clippings will become food for earthworms and other icky things that will help make your lawn green and healthy.

2. The red mulch everyone loves (including myself) happens to contain arsenic and other chemicals which are harmful to children and pets and can potentially contaminate the soil.
- I really was going to buy the red mulch because I thought it looked nice and would've created a nice contrast between all the plants.  On to Plan B, less attractive but much safer cedar mulch!

3. No more bagging your leaves!!! No way you say...well apparently there is a way.  If you go over them with the mower and leave them on the lawn as the leaves are breaking down they limit weeds from coming back up.

4. Plant your favorite flowers in groups of odd numbers and repeat the groupings throughout to create a unifying effect.

5. According to Reader's Digest laying down weed fabric is a waste of money and time in the long term since weeds are going to grow on top of it. Hmmm i don't know what to think because every DIY gardening show i have ever seen always always always! used the fabric before planting.  So i'm going to do a little experiment.  I will plant one side of my house using the gardening fabric and the other side without.  Will report back on the results...

6. Most lawn fertilizers have about 30% nitrogen which is way too much.  Instead look for fertilizer with time releasing water insoluble nitrogen and use it only twice a year.

7. Infrequent watering encourages roots to grow deeper to find groundwater, creating a stronger plant.

Happy Gardening!!!

Dry Retriever??

Brooklyn is growing up really fast and she is now a year and 2 months.  Her wild bursts of energy are a little more mild, she still gets really excited just about anything and wants attention all the time.  But she is also becoming more independent, going to her bed to sleep and rest during the day without the need to follow us around all day.

My dad emailed me this clip and i think it's so cute.  Can't wait for summer when we can take Brooklyn to the doggie area of the beach!  Here she is last summer at about 6 months.

Celebrity Inspiration: Kourtney Kardashian

Out of the Kardashian sisters I mostly like what Kourtney wears and I like her style. She looks particularly beautiful in this coral dress and at 6 months pregnant!!

Holy Mother Nature!!

The tornadoes that ripped through Dallas have left me speechless. I have not seen eighteenwheelers being thrown around like a book of matches.  Mother Nature's fury in full swing.

Sunday Brunch

Today i woke up and felt incredible because i have absolutely nothing to do! No errands, no appointments, no reminders....just to wake up and relax.  It took about two seconds to convince my fiance to go out for brunch.  As long as delicious food is involved he is in.  After a few Yelp reviews i settled on Le Peep in Edison, NJ.  Their claim to fame is best breakfast in the world...and they are super! It was crowded but a party of 2 was no problem to be seated.  I had crepes with fruit (your choice of fruit) with a side of Nutella. It's been 3 hours and i'm still full.  If there is one near you i highly recommend.
