Jon Stewart is the smartest man on television.  It's sad to say but i get a lot of my news from his show as opposed to the real news. This is his most memorable outburst directed at Donald Trump for eating his pizza with a fork!!! that's right with a fork!!! originally aired June 1, 2011

Tea with the Queen

The Queen's Diamond Jubilee is coming up this weekend.  Last time i checked i still wasn't part of the Royal family so watching the celebration on TV would have to do. In the meantime here are some interesting facts about her 60 years in power:
* she traveled to over 116 countries
* while on her foreign tour she has received 2 tortoises, 1 seven year old bull elephant named "Jumbo", 2 black beavers - umm cute puppies weren't available???
* some people like to say they invented reality TV, but they didn't.  It was really the Queen in 1969 she had a whole year of the royal family's life taped and shown to the public as a film
* Her Majesty owns 3 corgis now (they have their own Corgi Room and the menu is selected daily) and introduced a new breed of dog the "dorgi".  I guess they do exist! It happened when her corgi mated with a dachshund. Since then a total of 11 dorgis have come and gone.

It appears that the Queen also has a favorite tiara.  After so many years it still looks amazing. (I'm secretly hoping this one would go to Kate Middleton aka Princess Kate)

Landscaping Fabric

A few weeks ago I shared some gardening tips.  I'm new at this and don't have a whole lot of experience with nature.  Growing up in Brooklyn NY the closest thing we came to growing anything was a potted cactus in my room.  Let's just say this is a huge leap for me.  


To start of I had a complete makeover of my front yard.  Before it was covered by giant overgrown hideous bushes (which had spider webs inside), concrete path leading to nowhere and i'm guessing years of neglect.  Needless to say weeds were welcome there and thriving.

After a lot of hard work and a few pounds lost via sweating my front yard is completely reformed.

I accidentally forgot to use landscaping fabric on one side, but  according to expert advice from the Reader's Digest it is not needed since weeds will tend to grow on top of it.  Well it's been a few weeks and here are the results.  You be the judge :)

and forgetting to do so here...yikes!

Yard Envy

I have a really giant oak tree in my backyard. It's around 60 years old and takes more than 2 people to be able to wrap around the whole thing. Because it's so big there isn't a lot of room for other trees to grow. So having only one tree makes it impossible to get a hammock. Until i discovered the hammock chair! Not kidding they do exist. Come in all varieties of shapes and sizes and textures.  It even looks more comfy than a hammock. If you want your yard to feel like an escape this is a must, at least i think so for now until i get my own and test it out.  Here are the options i'm considering.

Brooklyn: First 12 Months

Brooklyn turned 1 a few months ago.  I have been taking pictures of her since the first day she arrived...sometimes against her will...but mostly with her posing in exchange for treats. Fair is fair.

My favorite app to read on the train to and from work would have to be FML.  Sometimes i wonder if the things people write actually happened and if it did boy do i feel bad for them. But the following stories plain and simple made me LAUGH OUT LOUD

"Today, I got an email from the company that manages my Cat's microchip informing me that I had to update my information that had been entered by the local Humane Society.  Apparently, they listed my cat "Coral" as the owner, and me as the pet.  To change it, they needed the cat's signature.

Celebrity Inspiration: Gloria Delgado-Pritchett

Today is Wednesday and besides being Hump Day a new episode of Modern Family is waiting for me (thank you DVR)!!!! I adore that show.  By far the best show on TV. So i decided to do a lil mini series of my own. Today's special is the hottie who has all the answers, the one and only Gloria Delgado-Pritchett.
