Reading Right Now

I'm so excited to be expanding my home library. While growing up my Dad had hundreds of books which he collected over many years and I was encouraged to read, read, read! As I settle into my own home I want to follow my Dad's traditions and build my own library.

This week I picked up a very cool book: The Oprah Winfrey Show: Reflections on an American Legacy by Deborah Davis. It is still available on Amazon for $20 here. I found my copy in the miscellaneous section of my local Home Goods.

The book is filled with hundreds of photographs, capturing 25 years of the show. Some memorable and some important to Oprah herself. According to her publicist she was very hands-on during the approval process and conception.

My favorite quote from the book is 

"Read, read, read. Read everything."

Afternoon With Dr. Oz

This week I was able to score tickets to a taping of the Dr. Oz show. Let me tell you, producing a TV show takes a village of minions. I can only imagine what it took to make one episode of Oprah.

We arrived for the afternoon taping to be aired sometime in the next 2 weeks. You can go to the Dr. Oz's website and search "Episodes" for Terry Crews and his wife Rebecca Crews.

I think my goal or resolution for 2013 will be to attend as many tapings as possible. I think doing a production of a large or small scale show is like a choreographed dance. If one person makes a mistake everything comes to a crashing halt. Thank god for do-overs.

Gracing the cover and pages of Bazaar in February 2012 is a woman who can do it all dance, sing, act, judge, perform. Her style is ever evolving and I'm digging her current look. Glamour with a boost of confidence. She looks amazing for a woman in her 40's and a lot better than most 20 year olds I know.

I'm always on the lookout for unique art. This campaign was done for AT&T by Guido Daniele. He specializes in body painting techniques and creates art for commercials or other events. Did you notice that the only prop in each photo are human hands? Ah-mazing!
