A Grand Remodel

Everyone loves a makeover, whether it's a DIY project for a reupholstered couch or an entire apartment, you can't help but flip back and forth and admire how the "new" version is so much better, sleeker and very modern. The makeover I'm featuring in today's post has that same sentiment times a thousand. It is the makeover on steroids with unlimited resources and professional help.

The challenge was to renovate a grand mansion of tremendous proportions with a very distinct Victorian style and make it a comfortable home for a new family, while preserving the beauty of the past gilded age.

Home Sweet Home: Decorating Your Space in White

I'm obsessed with the beautifully decorated all white houses you see so frequently in all the design magazines. But it can be tricky to make it look cozy and inviting instead of sterile and hospital-ish. Domaine has compiled a drool worthy slideshow and several suggestions: 

• vary the intensity of the whites you use
• balance with warm neutrals
• sprinkle in gold elements throughout
• introduce different textures and fabrics

Is Karlie ready to settle down??? Looks like it! The Victoria's Secret Angel and international supermodel purchased her first NYC apartment in the West Village. It's overflowing with gilded tables, chairs, mirrors, and that weird fan-or-sun-looking-wall-hanging-thing. Aside the abundance of gold objects, the rest of the choices are pretty awesome. Is anyone else drooling over the above living room chair with wings?? I know I am. 

PS the soccer ball inspired kitchen chandelier is a major score, a very glam version of sporty.
